20 Jan You’re Never Too Old to Dream a New Dream
“You’re never too old to set another goal or to dream another dream.” – C.S. Lewis
As a species, human’s are inventive, resourceful, and hopeful. The dreaming of dreams and setting of goals comes straight from the belief that “there is going to be a tomorrow and there is a chance I can make it better than today.” Setting goals and dreaming new dreams are a normal, healthy, idealistic way of life.
But, in reality, we’re tired, burned out, overburdened, and overwhelmingly hopeless. to us, dreaming a new dream not only sounds like a song from a Disney movie, but can be considered on the verge of irresponsiblility. Let’s face it, the older we are, the more people we have counting on us. We can’t gamble the futures of our loved ones just to follow rainbows, unicorns, and dreams. It’s called being an adult, right?
At the risk of minimizing the weight of the responsibility you may be feeling right now, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say “No, it’s not.” The measure of an adult is NOT in how she shoulders the weight of her responsibility, but how she continues to be inspired every day by the possibilities in front of her.
So allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to hope. Remember ALL good and perfect gifts come from the Father of Lights. (James 1:17). That dream buried deep inside you is a gift for you from your Father in Heaven. Pursue it. Own it. Be greatful for it. And trust Him to allow it to come to pass.
What is your dream?
